“In 2040, we will all enjoy a stable and comfortable lifestyle, secure in the knowledge that we can plan and prepare for our own and our children’s future. Our family lives together in a place of our own, and we have the freedom to go where we desire, protected and enabled by a clean, efficient and fair government.”
A country can only be progressive if the government and its people go together as one nation; no deprivation and injustice. If it promotes equity and equality as relevant factors to human needs and progress, a country can truly achieve.
Long before the Philippines liberates itself from external and internal controls, establishes its own ruling and people—the country had been battling to attain a life that is free and secured for all citizens. This turns to be a long-term vision of healing and standing strong. Whether in terms of education, health, human resources, basic needs, economic position and firm leadership, the country accepts the challenge of the new millennium.
In connection, let me introduce to you “AmBisyon Natin 2040” of the National Economic and Development Authority which fits on the idea of solving these rampant issues of scarcity and societal ills.
According to NEDA, AmBisyon Natin 2040 represents the collective long-term vision and aspirations of the Filipino people for themselves and for the country in the next 25 years. It describes the kind of life that people want to live, and how the country will be by 2040.
With this, the end-goal focuses on building a better tomorrow not only for specific people but for the entire nation as a whole. It recognizes the mutual dream of every Filipino citizen which only implies that amidst races and cultures, Filipinos think as one.
With the unifying goal of AmBisyon Natin 2040, Filipino families can freely choose. They will have better relationships equipped with love and trust. Time will be treated as gold and every pound of it means care. They will be able to appreciate everyone’s little effort and be firm on every decision and responsibility they will uphold. Moreover, they are calm and God-fearing citizens who never give up to certain problems like floods, calamities and scarcity. The idea of keeping the faith despite of breaking walls will surely be on their spirit.
In 2040, Filipinos will embrace change. They will be able to secure their positions in the economic platform. They will be financially literate and wise in choosing between needs and wants. The Philippines will be known as the fastest-growing economy with modernized and efficient transport system, free and quality education, homeownership, transparency and committed government officials.
Peace in Mindanao and in the entire country will be embraced. Filipino people sharing a comfortable life with enough resources for day-to-day needs. The establishment of a government that seeks security and harmony; guards the people from harm; saves them from injustices. The Philippines in 2040 will be named as the safest country in the world with good and hospitable people.
These are all written in paper— visions of change. It will only happen if Filipinos will set aside hate and let love for country emerge. Because in the end, where the sun closes the day, a lovely moon, in spite of darkness, will still shine to light people on their path leading them to a forgiving home. AmBisyon Natin 2040 must be a collaborative effort of every Filipino, as one nation, as the pearl of the orient seas—matatag, maginhawa at panatag.
