As the Catholic Bishop’s Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) and the Sangguniang Laiko ng Pilipinas’ Walk for Life pushed through, it was held on the 18th of February at the Quirino Grandstand, it awakened the minds and hearts of every faithful to fight for and protect life.
Among the 10, 000 individuals who participated in the said event, it makes me proud to be one of them in a decent gathering to fight for what is right. The Walk for Life became a big gathering of people with one cry, “Fight for life!”
The huge ground of the Quirino Grandstand was occupied by the faithful at 3: 30 in the morning. As people continuously dominated the place, it was also filled with prayer and reflections. You will be inspired as you see people bowing down and let their tears fall as they listen to the awakening and inspiring messages that were delivered by the prelates like Manila Archbishop Cardinal Tagle and CBCP President Archbishop Socrates Villegas, and some lay faithful.
The place was also filled with hopes as everyone become aware that they are not alone in fighting for what they are fighting for especially when all the participants started to walk for life as they were led by Archbishop Villegas and other prelates. As people are walking, all can feel the solemn reflections in everybody’s hearts because of the prayers that all were reciting in the duration of the procession. People were carrying religious images, banners and tarpaulins that state their appeal to respect life and they were filled with joy as they lift and wave all of those.
As you see people with lit candles, you can feel that your hearts are also lit so that together with the mind, you can decide to choose life over anything else. All the people joyfully sang different songs of praise and felt the presence of Almighty GOD as everyone was showered with raindrops and as every individual who joined the solemn gathering witnessed the appearance of a rainbow while a reformed drug-addict testifies how GOD transformed him to be a good person.
This event called Walk for Life is a testimony that all appeals can be possibly done in a peaceful and decent way.
